Michael came to reside in Guisborough Manor in 2024 shortly followed by his wife Hilda.

Both Michael and Hilda were born in Guisborough and met at St Nicholas Church Hall disco, where they spent many a weekend letting their hair down, dancing to the latest hits.

Following their courtship Michael and Hilda married on 13^th March 1965 at the local Catholic church, St Paulinus, with Michael looking dapper in his suit and Hilda looking radiant in her wedding attire.

Soon there was the patter of tiny feet and Michael and Hilda were blessed with a daughter Linda and 18 months later a son Michael. Having moved into their first house in Grosvenor Place whilst Michael worked as a foreman at ICI providing for his family, Hilda kept their house like a palace, looked after the children, baked, knitted, crocheted and enjoyed a good natter with her friends over the garden fence. The house was always filled with laughter. Both Michael and Hilda came from large families having 16 siblings between them and would often enjoy holidays abroad with Michaels brother Tommy and his sister in law Hazel. Following his retirement Michael enjoyed afternoons spent in the Quoit club with his brothers Peter, Tommy, Terry, Jimmy and Robert whilst Hilda filled her afternoons with visits from her children and grandchildren.

Michael told us that he has had 60 years of love and happiness in his marriage to Hilda

Hilda says: “ I have had a good life with a good man, I couldn’t have asked for more.”
