Tai Chi at Willow Green
Willow Green has many activities for the residents to take part in and a very good example is…
Seated Tai Chi.
This class is provided by a young gentleman called Prid who explains Tai Chi as a gentle exercise which improves balance and reduces fall risk. It consists of making slow, graceful movements while breathing deeply. It’s relatively easy to follow because the movements are done so slowly.
Seated Tai Chi is a great exercise option for frail seniors or those with limited mobility. It helps older adults get the health and wellness benefits of tai chi without the fall risk. It’s also claimed that tai chi can improve flexibility, immune system, sleep, happiness, sense of self-worth, strength, cardiovascular endurance, concentration, and more.
And to be fair all that’s needed is a sturdy chair, so it’s easy to do these routines in the comfort and convenience of the home.
Prid’s classes always have a good turnout, and the residents really seem to enjoy, not only the exercise but also the fun, laughter, and general banter between them.
The class is also open to any family member who would like to join in, so with that in mind we look forward to seeing you all next week.
