Washington Fire Brigade paid a visit to one of Washington Manor’s residents, thanks to St Martins Head of Care Hayley Robertshaw tweeting the fire service on John’s 92^nd Birthday.

John served for many years with the fire service and was a divisional officer when he retired.

The guys from the fire service were delighted to meet John, and spoke about the camaraderie of the fire service, and shared some funny tales with each other.

John was still able to get himself in and out of the engine, enjoyed a look at all the new equipment on board the engine and said he thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the visit.

The fire service is also arranging for John to visit a center where the vintage engines are kept. John was delighted with this news.
