St Martins Care is happy to be featured in the Royal College of Nursing Magazine!

The article discusses St Martins Care's approach to addressing retention challenges in the care home sector by implementing a nursing associate apprenticeship program.

Two of our employees, Sarah Morgan and Natalie Metcalfe, both initially in care roles, became nurse associate apprentices through this initiative, aiming to become registered nurses.

Driven by St Martins Care’s Director of Care and Development, the program aims to bridge the gap between healthcare support workers and registered nurses, offering an alternative career path and addressing recruitment issues.

The program, rare in adult social care but more common in the NHS, seeks to retain talented staff by providing career progression opportunities and hands-on experience within teams.

Though it's too early to gauge the program's long-term impact, it's shown promising signs in inspiring employees, highlighting a viable alternative for individuals seeking a career in nursing within the care home sector.
